Mmmmm....$1 Whoppers...(Drools)

Weekend recap:

Friday was Lifesong, and so I figured I would go in early and not get stuck in traffic, probably one of my top pet peeves. So, in I went, got to Waterloo pretty close to noon, travel time was less than average, I think only around 55 minutes. So I played some ol' Smash w/ Alan and DB prior to lunch. After lunch was more Smash, Melee this time. Fun fun.

Then I proceeded to join in on Wen's D&D game, played one of those already set up characters in the manual, you know, the ones that you throw in to die or something. I was going to "Red Shirt" it (I don't watch Star Trek, but I think I made the correct reference) for the guys, but unfortunately, there was hardly any fighting. I didn't even fire a single shot. Should've fought some hobos, damnit...

Next was Lifesong, which was pretty good I think. This term's production was deeper, you had to think about what the message of the play was, I guess more fitting for the University people, heh. I thought last year's was more entertaining plot-wise though =P

After Lifesong I went to Timeless...wait, it's called Bubble Tease now, but it still tastes like Timeless..."It looks like Ketchup, it tastes like Ketchup, but Brother, it ain't Ketchup!!" to quote Homer. (NOT the dead greek poetry dude)

I was going to just pick up my car from DB's place and head over to hockey, but then ol' Smash got the better of me, and I pretty much Saj'ed out on hockey : ( I did get there for the last 5 minutes, and whomever was there will remember my PK, ha ha ha (that's tanking a fall, for those not familiar w/ Cantonese in English acronyms).

After hockey was NHL on Chirs' comp, also fun fun. We won like 2 Stanley cups by playing around 5 games, thanks to the miracle of simulation AI. We were going for another Stanley, but during the season Paul got a bit tired and dozed off...

Next morning I proceeded to drop Chris off at DC and then headed home. On the way he suggested I do an East 105 manga, which isn't too bad of an idea, but I'll need to improve my art work for that one, since I'll need to draw stuff like garbage bags, beeforoni, milk bags, web cams, MTVs, etc etc.

For those who don't know, this weekend BK was celebrating their 50th anniversary by selling $1 Whoppers, well, $1.07 w/ tax, but still a good deal. I still have 1 1/2 Whoppers in my kitchen, the marginal utility is still above 0 for me, he he.

Oscars tonight, so gonna plop myself on the couch for this one, go Johnny Depp, although I wouldn't mind seeing Bill Murray win either, but then there's Sean Penn, who's had lots of nominations but no trophies =P I wonder if LotR will get it this year...

No dreams from me, I recall like, 1 dream a month =P

Well, about time for me to take off for food and Oscars, catch y'all next time, same blog channel, random time.

Kaiser + So-say = Coolness

So it's been a few days since I updated this thing, while others have midterms and assignments to deal with, I pretty much have nothing. So uh, you're just not gonna get an excuse out of me. That'll suffice, yes, yes...

Anyways, I don't have the memory to recall everything I've done, so I'll just write about what I remember about the past few days:

The Usual Suspects - I've seen this movie before and I really liked it, so I got the DVD awhile back, but I never got around to seeing it again until Monday night. Such a good movie, I really like the script and acting, Kevin Spacey deserves the Oscar for this one. For anyone who hasn't seen this movie, I highly recommend it that you do. For those who have seen it, I recommend that you see it again =P

Rogers Cable - damn Rogers was down from like 11pm till at least like, 2:30, since that's when I fell asleep. Normally it's no big problem, but I've been taping the HK serials that's been airing on Fairchild right now (they are good ones), and since I had to work until 9 pm Monday night, I wasn't able to catch the re-airing of the serials...got ninja'd somewhat. So I had to work up some magic to get those episodes back, such as going back in time, hacking my cable box, etc etc...

Drawings/Manga - sketched some more characters and stuff, I have somewhat of an idea for a plot, just have to maybe select a main character and think of the style I want this thing to be. Forget about female characters, I'll have them, but they'll be ugly, what-ev. This is a manga for manly-men, or something like that...hm...that doesn't sound too right...meh...

Well, it's 8pm, gotta go tape some good serials...maybe I'll do a part II later tonight, that is, if I don't feel like playing games for some reason after dinner.

Thoughts on DB's party, plus other stuff

Yesterday was a good day, met up with some friends and acquaintances, and had a lot of fun playing games together. It's interesting how even just looking at friends playing games is just as fun as playing games myself, heh.

The day started off w/ me meeting up w/ Darbha, originally slated at 10 am. Then he pushed it to 10:30 am, no problem, but he Saj'ed out on me until around 11:15 am =P That's okay, he paid for most of the meal we had at Timmy's, works out all right, heh. Then it was off to DB's, where Jia was already there, surprise, surprise.

I had to leave DB's early since my Mom's church had their 3rd year anniversary banquet. Overall the food wasn't bad, neither were the performances, but things got a bit boring for me during the in-between dinner games. Oh well, overall still a good dinner.

When I got home, I got back into a game I haven't played for well over a year, D2X. I found that Meph is still quite MF-able w/ my sorc, so I'll MF for a bit, I guess, and maybe start some new chars. (which probably means I'm not going to work on the manga thing, but we'll see what happens...)

Hot Pot dinner tonight, go shabu shabu beef and dumplings.

Meph is waiting to be killed over and over now, I can hear his plead...

Zaphod Inc. Announces New Titles

MISSISSAUGA -

Due to the recent social obligations of Mr. T.G. Zaphod, president and CEO of Zaphod Inc, Zaphod Enterprises, and Zaphod-owns-all, his prestigious company has released many memos and publications with regards to the Nguyen-Huu brothers. Titles such as "Bao and Duy", "Bao/Duy", "Duy/Bao", "Bao's", "Duy's", and a multitude of various combinations have been released, creating a confusion of sorts amongst the company's employees.

"I've gotten to a point where I don't know which name goes with which face...", says an employee who wished to remain anonymous.

John Mohammed Wong, supervisor of the Eateries Dept. of Zaphod Inc, was not afraid to speak up, on the record:

"It's ridiculous, today it's Bao's, tomorrow it's Duy's, it was Duy/Bao yesterday, and gosh knows what it was last week. We really need a more efficient, and less confusing way to understand what the office memos and reports are talking about."

The situation has gone so bad, that Mr. T.G. Zaphod himself held a press conference today, announcing the official title that he, his company, and all his company's associates will use from hence forth. The title Mr. T.G. Zaphod coined is "DB". Sources close to Mr. T.G. Zaphod say that this name was perhaps inspired from a certain series of books, but failed to point out the exact title.

The suitability and utility of the new title "DB" has still yet to be proven, but most employees of the Zaphod empire agrees that it's a step in the right direction.

Pre & Post Lunch Thoughts...

So today I had to help my Dad receive a matress, no big problem, really, just had to get over to his place and wait for the delivery people to drop the matress off. I didn't even have to get out of the unit, heh.

However, as I was making the trip to my Dad's apartment, I was making a right turn at a red light. The car ahead of me went as the traffic cleared, the light was still red when it was "my turn" to go, I was pretty sure. Anyways, perhaps the light turned green while the car ahead went, 'cause the second or so I stopped to check, *honk honk*. I got a bit annoyed, sometimes people have no patience...On hindsight, if that happened again I probably would've taken longer to turn, shows him (or her?)...

Herein sparks my little rant about people and driving. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I find that on the roads in 'sauga, you get a lot of the "extremes" in terms of drivers. Either you have the "slow reaction, take 5 seconds after a light turns green to go" type, or you have the "can't wait for more than a millisecond why doesn't everyone yield to me" type. I try not to get too annoyed when I encounter such cars on the road, but sometimes when I'm also in somewhat of a hurry, it gets irritating.

From there, I was thinking about how funny it was that when we (or maybe it's just me) think of examples or occurences, most of the time the situation/example thought of are closer to the extremes of the spectrum. (Notice that I didn't mention anything about so-so, or average drivers annoying me) But maybe that's the thing, since average is, as far as I can express it, the accepted norm so to speak, to be irritated by the average kind of makes life really fustrating. Hmm...maybe I'm onto something here for those who are rage-aholics, or those who are addicted to rage-ahol. Oh well...what do I know.

Lunch is pretty much digested, so I think I'll start the amp and sing some songs, fun fun.

Tomorrow will be fun fun as well, probably quite a bit of good ol' Smash Original. Go Z-cancel.

Double go for Family Guy new episodes.

A Little Rendezvous... (not with Rama though)

Yesterday made the trip to 'Loo, had some good fun playing Smashie Smashie, as well as some good Mongolian Grill (mmmm.....all you can eat...). Unfortunately most of the guys had more important things to do throughout the day (i.e. study for a midterm =P ), so not that much gaming was done, at least not Smash, heh. Fortunately, we have another chance at more gaming later this week, he he he. (oh btw Chris, I figured you'll be busy at work and I didn't have that much time gaming together, and with Mongolian and everything I couldn't find the time to visit...sorry about that. But I talked to Paul last week and he said we'll grab Simone and have an East 105 reunion of sorts, ha ha, we'll plan it "fo sho")

Met up with two good friends today at work, luckily it wasn't that busy at work so I got to take a rather long break to catch up =P It's funny, seems like yesterday that we were a bunch of high school boys, getting together to play games (still do, heh). Today's conversation were more about books, political events, relationships, a bit about what we have planned for the future, more "adult" stuff I guess. Mind you, there was also a lot of talk about video games ; )

Since it wasn't too busy at work today, I got a little time to make some sketches of characters for the manga I'm planning. The male characters are alright, but when I tried to sketch the female characters, um...let's just say I'll need a lot more work.

Watching the Lakers Warriors game right now, quite exciting...must...watch...

Needed to Get Tired...

Well, I will need to sleep soon, but not quite tired enough, getting there though...so I thought I'd just rant in this post until I feel tired enough, or find something else to do, ha ha...

First thing that I'd like to talk about is this fun Flash puzzle game that Alan told me about, it's pretty fun, the objective of the game is to get out of the room. The link is here:

http://www.datacraft.co.jp/takagism/index_e.html

I did manage to solve the game, but it took awhile and a lot of clicks, heh...

Now, Bao mentioned that it'll be cool if we hear people in MC using phrases we'd use a lot when playing games and such, so I figured I'll post a small list of common phrases we use that I can think of at this moment.

1. tank verb. Used in reference to MMORPG characters who take the hits from monsters for the party. In this case, this word is used in quite a few aspects of our interactions, as in the following examples:

i) Used in Smash Brothers as a verb for taking or not dying from hits. "Tank it Falcon!"
ii) Used to describe an object's hit-taking prowess. "The truck can tank it" / "The truck tanks"
iii) Used in reference in not doing something, particularly things to do with school. "I can tank the assignment/class"

2. Ninja noun. This word was first used to describe cheapness, cowardice, and down-right dirty tactics in the game of Smash Brothers. "Such a ninja!" It's use has evolved also into a verb, usually used to describe someone or something getting screwed by someone or something else in a honourless manner. "I got ninjaed by that car!" Sometimes used as an adjective. "Ninja goodness"

3. No-jump verb. Another phrase from Smash Brothers (do we see a pattern here?), original usage was for describing how characters in Smash Brothers were hit away and cannot second jump back, usually done by hitting the character away from the ledge while they are coming back with their third jump. It's use has also evolved, and somewhat synonymous with ninja, it is used to describe how someone or something is/was screwed in some manner. "I got no-jumped" / "He no-jumped you"

4. From where? verb phrase. This phrase is used to describe the surprised, shocked, yet a bit hilarious reaction one has to highly improbable, largely inexplicable, simultaneous-combustion-like occurrences, often found in, but not limited to, Smash Brothers. (3 guesses where this phrase comes from) "From Where??!!?!?!?"

Well, that's all I can think of for now, if anyone wants more maybe Duy should upload his file =P (or if you already have, Duy, I'll gladly post the link)

Anyways, as for the manga I spoke of, I've always thought of possible manga plots to write about, so there shouldn't be a problem there. I'm thinking of drawing somewhat SD characters, that way I can get away with some of the crappy drawing of arms, legs, etc. There'll probably be DBZ-like fighting, maybe some Saint Seiya...But I might need some names, 'cause I suck at naming things (or maybe I'll just use screennames or real names, he he). Any suggestions are welcome, but will be the property of Zaphod Enterprises, muhahahahahaha!!!!!!

Feeling more tired, outie for now...

1st Real Post!!!

Alrighty then, after tweaking around a bit looking at FAQs and such, this blog page thingy is at least presentable (I guess...)

Actually, unlike the description, I think I'll use this page a bit, considering that most of the gaming crew is not where I am (good ol' 'sauga), and East 105 is busy working, ha ha.

So I guess this is a good method for me to keep up to date with my friends, and for my friends to keep up to date with me (assuming they read this thing =p )

So what's Brose been up to lately? The answer is: helping couples remain couples. I'm serious here, no joke. Think about it:

Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, boy goes out with girl; Valentine's Day comes up. Boy: "Hmm... because of some holiday I need to give the girl flowers, get her dinner, a gift...I know! I'll go get some stuffed bear or something." Brose: "That'll be . Thank you very much, receipt's in the bag, have a nice day, Happy Valentine's"...

And so, it is not cupid's arrows that keep couples together, it is the works of your friendly neighbourhood can't-get-a-real-job Brose (who, of course, gets none of the credit or rewards ; )

So, after an exhausting week of taking people's money, I'm going up to Waterloo to do some game-age, he he.

I'm also planning to make a manga of some sort, you know, the kind that has really bad drawing, no real plot, bad dialouge, and a collage of ideas ripped from mangas I've read. I figured it's better than sitting at GameFAQs all day in my spare time, heh. Hopefully I can at least start this, I have this weird pattern of planning out stuff and never getting around to do it (like playing FF X-2, or 70% of the games that I buy, actually)...

Maybe I should do some practicing for gaming tomorrow...oops, did I just say that out loud...er...I mean...type that out?
